Jan 1 Jean Marie Ellison's birthday. George went out last night altho he warned every body else to stay in. Gave me the check and I put 50.00 in savings and 25.00 in checking accounts. He came in 1:30. He was called to go out at 7:30. I ate over to Betty's.

Jan 2 Ann Hyzik 38. Haven't done anything much today. Had dinner over to Betty's.

Jan 3 # Cleaned thro upstairs. Geo slept most of the day. Made a graham cracker pie and a pork roast. Had Fred's family over for dinner.

Jan 4 Audrey Barber's birthday George called for 12:30 this morning. Went to church & then over to John's. They had been out to CD party & then a bunch came to their house till after six. Came home & cleaned thro downstairs. Don't feel so good. Fred & Betty went after Kenny to Harker's Got home about 7:30. Kids had a good time riding down hill.

Jan 5 # George got in about 7:30. Stayed up & took car to Gerard's Body Garage at 8. Sibley came about 10:30 for quilting frames. Stayed till about twelve. Audrey is supposed to start south sometime this week.

Jan 6 Cold & sunny. Went to lodge and to lodge supper. I stayed until 9:30 and played cards. George has slept most of the day.

Jan 7 Got 50 lbs. Of rabbit food. Sunny & cool. Straightened thro house. Steve came after me at 3. Fitted a skirt to Dolores & made two pumpkin pies. Steve & Kevin went to scouts. We went to Leona's after. Picked up George & he got his check. Cashed it & paid New Years debts Carr's 6.80, Griska 5.00 & De Donna 2.00. Of course we three had to have a drink each place. Gave me 113.00 when we got home check 132.58.

Jan 8 Went with Betty a few groceries. Car came right after so George had to celebrate. Spent 10.00 and bought a chair 2.00 & coat 2.00. Home bureau at Eravesta's had a nice time as she showed us home movies till 12:30. Geo had 7.00 of check left.

Jan 9 Very cold. Did washing went downtown got Bambi license. Got 6.00 of groceries at Grand Union and 2.00 of stuff at 10 cent store. Had supper up to Dolores's. Gave pants to Kevin which Geo got last night. Not feeling so good.

Jan 10 Rather cold. Sprinkled clothes. Didn't get up till late. Had dinner. Geo took bath & knew he was going out. Asked to go to & he said yes yet not too nicely. Had a drink at Park View one at Griska's & 4 at Carr's. Came home about five & I'd forgotten lodge party at Mrs. Tyler's. Betty had made the salad. We went. I chewed gum. Hope they didn't smell the liquor. Got home about 11:30.

Jan 11 Not too cold. Fred took car to Binghamton his & wanted to borrow tire but could not find my keys. I telephoned beer joints then Steve came down & we drove & looked for them. Betty came over after church and found them behind leather chair. I was too upset to go to church so cleaned house thro, did ironing & mending.

Jan 12 # Sunny, just a nice winter day. Didn't do much today. Geo took car to Cornish greased & new points again. Had new ones less than a month ago something wrong. Geo tried to get his bail money for Deats and sheriffs office said Deats lawyer Rosenbeck has it.

Jan 13 Wind, snow flurries not very cold. Gave Geo 50.00 to pay his bank note & 15.00 14.75 to pay Cornish for tuning up car. Made pie for church & one for us. Geo hasn't come home. Saw the car at Gulka's & Eagles Grill. Went to Dotties & took care of kids till 10 o'clock. Geo came in at two. Very, very intoxicated. Could not sleep. He had paid the bills. Supposed to get Deats bail money.

Jan 14 A sunny warm day. Fred cleaned his car. Wished I could make him feel as I do. Hope he will sometime have to pay & pay dearly. Got up at 3:40 & got Geo off. In pretty poor condition. Couldn't go to sleep. Got up at 8 and got ready to take lesson on plush seats. When I got in car saw cigarettes on the floor with lip stick looked in ash tray & there were a lot more ten in all. Gave him money 5.00. Heard today his running around with Deats mother in law. Wonder what he did with the hundred he was supposed to get from the bail.

Jan 15 I was supposed to have check but he cashed it. Paid taxes & light bill. Figure there was about 12.00 left after having a couple of drinks. Didn't do anything. Went to Ziff's & got $6.13 meat.

Jan 16 A rather bad day. Cleaned house thro. Didn't get any groceries this pay.

Jan 17 Very cold. Got a letter from Dora & cancellation of our insurance policy. It makes me just sick.

Jan 18 A very very cold day. Didn't even go to church. Washed and straightened. Had dinner at Betty's.

Jan 19 George left about ten to go to Y Caught up with him at De Dona's and he'd had plenty. Said he'd come right home but came when he got ready which was about nine.

Jan 20 Betty & I went to lodge.

Jan 21 Rain all day. Came home from taking lesson at home bureau & electricians were here and a lot of water in cellar. Got a pipe up to eve trough & dug a couple of ditches. Fred wouldn't do it. Went up to Dolores till after ten o'clock. They were in bed when I got home. Completed the chair except for varnish.

Jan 22 Not very cold. Again no check for me. Geo paid car and tried to get license but because he wants car in his name only can not get it till the insurance comes thro. He drank a lot & got his usual. I'm abused over bed in bunk house. Ate dinner & was mad when I went with him after eating. Owed Carr $5.00 he said. I got 30.00

Jan 23 Betty took me to Pauldine's & I had a hair cut & a permanent 5.50. Do not car for the way it was set. Left my comb down there. Went after groceries $10.00. Straightened up house. Went to Fran’s friend & bought some tropical fish, a thermometer 35 food, net & fish, sand 2.50.

Jan 24 A little snow Geo came in sick. Said his bowels were running off. Didn't do much of anything as George slept most of day. Made lemon pie & a dozen cupcakes. Electricians came & paid them 20.00. They forgot or didn't put boxes in two places. Hope they come back & do it.

Jan 25 Snowy & very slippery. Went to church. Haven't felt good all day. Had supper at Betty's. Fred got a yard job. Finished red needle point and began a gain on Dolores rug. Fred going around with sore head.

Jan 26 A very sunny day. Geo slept most of day. I have felt pretty bad but got two cooked meals. Worked on Dolores rug. Fred still going around with sore head. Got called for 2^nd SB #2 took car to be mean. Geo made because I wanted to watch Arthur Murray party on TV. I had watched two programs I'd seen because he wanted them.

Jan 27 Much warmer & sunny. Geo took off about 9 he said to Y Came about 4 and had been over to John's & to a number of beer joints. Drank blackberry brandy and thinks his bowls are much better but I'm miserable.

Jan 28 The adjustor came from our insurance company and I signed statements. I made to him. Did up my work and then went up to Dolores about 2:30. Made her dress but hem & button & holes. Fred called for 9:40 & so I came & took him to station leaving the car for Geo & bringing his home. Geo got his check & stopped at Carr's & cashed it.

Jan 29 George had cashed his check. Gave me 120.00. He paid bar debt & had 7.00 left out of 139.00. Be glad when he gets all paid for his girl friends outing. Stopped & had BB brandy & feel worse than ever. Geo drank too much.

Jan 30 Agnes Hayward's birthday. Put 50 in bank let Betty have ten. Got 10.00 of groceries 3.00 gas. Went up to Dolores & took care of kids. Finished a dress for her. Straightened house thro. They went to dance at the school. Had supper up there. Bowls much better.

Jan 31 # Very very cold. Neither Geo or I took the car out. Geo slept most of the day. I worked a lot on Dolores rug. Haven't done much of anything all day only get something to eat. Geo called for 12:45. After he left took bath.

Feb 1 Very cold. Went to church. Did a two weeks washing & straightened thro the house. Dolores asked us up for a turkey dinner. Betty took cherry pie & I took a jello salad. Got home about 8:30.

Feb 2 Very cold. Signed car over to George and got new license. Dellie was here when we got home. Geo bred the mother rabbit. Geo had a few drinks & he marked up with Gunderman. Dellie & I sat up & visited till about one. Gave Geo 5.00. Ann's eggs 1.10.

Feb 3 Sunny and not very cold. Geo marked on Gunderman job this morning. Dellie & I sold a knitting machine to a couple of deaf people which they'll take in the spring. Went to Jean's. Baby & Jean sick. Went up to Dolores for supper & then to Waverly to see Romy Hoxie is being flown to Boston next week for a very serious operation. Larry Stewart had brain operation. Found nothing.

Feb 4 Gave Betty 5.40 for rabbit food. Not very cold. Rain this morning. They took Donna to the hospital this morning. Jean has the intestinal grippe. Dr say this trouble is from the water. Dellie left for Dora's about one. Did not make a sale this morning. Corset from Roman’s came. Stayed with Dolores kids while they went to Boy Scout supper. Kevy got two badges. Fred put new muffler on. Did a big ironing.

Feb 5 Geo did not go to work as he came home with bad cold. Fred marked on it and went out. I put 100.00 in savings. 25.00 in checking. Got 10.00 of groceries 3.00 gas. Geo gave me both the 24.50 and other 146.00. Betty paid 10.00 she borrowed. Betty took care of Jean's kids. Let her have girdle of rubber.

Feb 6 Sent corset back for smaller size. Took care of Jean's kids. She took rubber corset. Geo still feels badly. Coughs a lot. My watch stopped and took it to Alperts also up to Dolores's. Took soup left from supper last night and 1/3 of cake I made this morning. Made with concentrated orange juice or rather icing on plain yellow cake. Betty had 1/3 also. Straightened thro upstairs after. Geo got up. Fred got bumped & Geo marked. Afraid he'll catch more cold.

Feb 7 A sunny rather cold day. Did a couple of rubbers of washing. Front room bed. Betty & I went downtown in afternoon. She had gone in the morning got material selling me one 5 yd 1.00. Got some more 2 – 5 yd 2.00. Got Valentines present for Ervesta .59, buttons .30 & straps for slip. 30.

Feb 8 Did not go to church but stitched up the dress which I had basted. Got meals & made three pies two pumpkin & a cherry for the church. Dolores & Steve went down to Arolines & she's going to have her baby in May. Geo got bumped off job with Gunderman.

Feb 9 Turned much colder. Geo left about 10:30. Lalie came a little after one. She had been to unemployment office. Said it rained very hard at Watkins & roads very icy. John over and Donna still in hospital. Jean riding him pretty bad because he don't go see the baby. Geo read my diary and sore at my writing some things about him.. Deats again arrested & told on other fellows.

Feb 10 Rain, very icy. Betty went to doctors & I to beauty parlor where I had hair washed & set. Didn't cost me anything. Betty told old man. When he came after me he stopped at Griska's went to Y & played cards. Came about 7:30 & had lost 5.00. The TV had burned out and the smell was very bad. Called Benjamin & he was leaving for work. Took pie to church & Betty & I went to Dolores for awhile.

Feb 11 Geo went to work has laryngitis. I washed and cleaned the house. Finished Betty two skirts. Beth went in hospital today but Dolores never told me till Friday late. She swallowed a wood screw.

Feb 12 Geo slept most all day and when he got up demanded the check which he gave the night before 185.00 & went & cashed it. Gave me 180.00.

Feb 13 Wet & nasty. I put 60 in Insurance for Geo & 50 in bank paid water & gas 37.00. Got 12 groc. Sewed until nearly three. Then rushed around. Dolores telephoned. Beth in hospital. Went up there for supper.

Feb 14 Haven't been able to set myself at anything. John up & looked his father up & they left Griska together about 1:30. Jean after John as he's been put in charge of trying to get the kids smashing meters. Geo came a little after 7 and was in misery with his rectum from drinking burning right. John couldn't be found. Guess he had a dolly according to Geo. Cleaned upstairs.

Feb 15 Went to church. Fred & Betty went to Harker's. I didn't do much of anything except clean downstairs.

Feb 16 Frederick Ellison's birthday. We had supper over to Betty's. Of course Geo had so much bitching about never having a meal etc. Funny how hungry he gets when he's home & the hours he goes when in beer joints. Dora came about nine. Had trouble with her car radiator. Visited till 2 PM.

Feb 17 Geo had to go to Drs. For RR. Warm - Dellie came about 9:45 and after eating we left about 11:30 for Painted Post. Got back home 2:45. Geo all ready gone. Had lunch & about 4 went to Southport for another demonstration. Got back about 5:30. Fred had taken Dora's radiator off & had it fixed & had it nearly on. Stayed around till after six & at last left for supper at Dolores. Betty said we had only been gone a few minutes when Geo came & bitched because he hadn't had anything to eat all day. I had mixed pancakes. Put meat in spider for him & left note.

Feb 18 Straightened thro very dark & gloomy. Some snow. Geo went to work. Did some sewing. Fred & Betty took car down for Geo. Haven't been away from house. Terribly slippery.

Feb 19 Payday. Geo got his check & cashed it last night. Gave me 20.00 to pay car ins. 15.70 and has gone to spend the other 28.00. Tied on a real good one on. Tomorrow is going down & get the 100 bail & tell all of them where to go. Left car at De Donna & I went & got it. Sewed all day. Geo said he marked off. Fred went to Scranton.

Feb 20 A very sunny day & very cold. They called Geo & he went to work. Had left his keys at De Donna's so he took mine. Had my hair done which I don't like and it already looks like a rats nest. Straightened thro when I came home. Very slippery so I didn't go anywheres.

Feb 21 Fred & Betty went to Harker's. Picked up Parks & butchered Harker's cow. Of course Fred had to go on tear and they didn't come until 9 o'clock & then he went out. George slept most of the day recuperating.

Feb 22 Washed and went to church. Straightened all the way thro & made 2 pies and a batch of Welch cookies which no one likes. Had dinner at Betty's Fred out.

Feb 23 Geo slept most of the day & as I had dinner ready he shaves & goes out. If meals are so unimportant to him why does he act as tho its a great privilege to me to get it anytime for him. Bitches because I don't & bitches because I do.

Feb 24 Snow flurries. Geo bright & early started more money borrowed 9:20. Came at 4 and demanded dinner. Started and then ask him for receipt of 100. Then began to rant & rave at me. I was a dirty SOB and you could smell all thro the house etc. Got dinner ready & he wouldn't eat. Betty & I did. Then went to D & took care of Beth while they went to B & G banquet. As soon as I left he gets up & opens a can of spaghetti. Betty said she thought he was knocking the house down. Came home 8:45 Put up his lunch.

Feb 25 A lovely sunny day. Fred went to Harker's. Sewed up a sheet. Made Betty a skirt and went downtown came home about three. Fed Florence & Dolores soup, coffee & cake. Straightened the house after they left at 4. Went down to Jean's and when we were talking told her what George said. I'd be very surprised if I knew what John was pulling off. Of course Geo denied it the next day.

Feb 26 Did not got to Home Bureau. A very lovely sunny day. John up and blew his top tonight that I had broken up his home. I had gone with Geo and after paying the bills and getting the 100.00 from Leet we went for a drive thro Lockwood, Van Etten, Spencer, Junction & home. Stopped at most of the places. Got a bale of hay at Stimpsons. Went with John for a drink and in less than half hour he had 4 liquors. Said he'd go home and try to straighten thing out.

Feb 27 Another sunny day. Went to Beauty parlour at ten. Got home about one. Straightened thro a little & about 2:30 went to bank. Put in 50.00 then after groceries got about 17.00. Saw Dolores downtown in Hghts & she wants to go to Dora's so I got up to her house about 4. She was making macaroni & cheese & decorating a dog cake for Vonny. Got started at 5 and got home 11. She was sore a little because I hurried her. But was scared Geo would need car.

Feb 28 # Another sunny day. Gave the house a pretty good cleaning. John came at noon and said Jean had kicked him out when he went home for dinner & he couldn't live with the S of B but I think its the other way around. Made a cake. Geo went with John & then about one came & got our car. Came home about 2:30 & wanted dinner. Betty ate with us. She took frozen food to Dots. Made macaroni & cheese for us all for supper.

Mar 1 Dark & gloomy this morning. Went to church. Thought I'd go to Dellie's but was afraid it would be snow there. Basted Betty's smocks, three of them and watched TV. Made chocolate cookies and a cake.

Mar 2 Coral Harker's birthday. A rather nice day. George took off after dinner saying he had to get rabbit food. Betty ask us over there for ham supper but George couldn't be found. I took car & looked for him downtown but didn't see car altho he said he was downtown. Think he lied to me. Came about eight.

Mar 3 A dark dreary day. Geo went out came about 1:30 with a tale about Gryska saying JoAnn was so hard up she was putting out. Too bad but its hard to believe. Betty and I went to lodge. After we went to Dolores for a while.

Mar 4 A nice day. I washed and cleaned the house all through. Got thro about 4:30. Betty went to Dolores at one. Took kids and roast Betty had cooked and went to Dolores for supper. Got home about eight. Sure was pooped.

Mar 5 # A lovely sunny rather spring day. Put 100.00 in bank. Geo had 20.00. Put 4.50 gas in car bought cigarettes & lestoil about 3.00, buttermilk & cheese .70. Paid Carr 5.00. Had 3.00 when we got home. I had 40.00 which I haven't touched. Got home about 1 had dinner and I rested most of afternoon. George went to bed. Had supper and I did the ironing.

Mar 6 Rain nearly all night and today. Pritchard came over and let me have a house on Beecher St for sale. Large House. Went up to Dolores and took car of kids. Got $12 of groceries. Straightened thro. Fred and Betty got the rest of the beef. In all it weighted 323 lbs.

Mar 7 Today is our 40^th wedding anniversary. Fred, Betty, Dolores & Steve each gave us a folding chair. I roasted a turkey and we ate. Fred had to go to work so Dad ate early with him. Dolores had to go to a meeting and didn't get home till 4:30. She gave us a very beautiful heart shaped cake decorated with a bunch of roses & forget-me-knots also a pastry set.

Mar 8 Went to church then drove to see Pritchard's house. Then over to John's. Took Jean to look at the outside. Fred went & got the key. Ate dinner at John's. Came home read the paper and dust moped ran the vacuum. John & Jean came and looked at house. They would like it if they could sell theirs.

Mar 9 A very mean slippery day. George left about noon. Said he wouldn't be gone long. Took Fred's car & saw ours at Park View altho it wasn't there when I started. Thought he'd come home as it was after seven. About 11:30 he was at Carr's. He never came till 4:30. I worked on Dolores rug all day.

Mar 10 Fred had hearing & took our car as Betty had to go to doctors. He never came back with it. Made two apple pies and when we took one to church went looking for it but couldn't fine it. Pritchard took me over to house. John & Jean wanted to see it again & I went along. Saw our car at Carr's. John got Fred and I drove ours. About 11 John called & wanted key to show Mrs. Stewart the house. Fred listened & had a fit at the hour. Betty felt life tonight for sure.

Mar 11 A nice day. Changed water on the platty fish. Didn't get up till late ran the dust mop around upstairs. Went up to Dolores after stopping to see Mrs. Stearns. Up there the rest of afternoon. Made pancakes & baked them. Helped Kevin with his lesson. Went up to Leona's She has the grippe & coughing violently causes her to have heart spells. Came home & made orange bread. George got in early.

Mar 12 #' Snow and more of it. It's so slippery you get stuck every time you stop. Georges check 142.00. Gave me 40. Put 50 in bank and he spent the rest. Shopped about 14.00 owed 7.00 gas 3.00 groc. 4.00 rabbit food 3.00 20.00 in silver. Had a few drinks. 4.00. Had dinner & I worked in kitchen 3 hrs. Had some kind of poor spell tonight. Mad a chocolate cake over to Betty & they very quickly ate it up.

Mar 13 Sunny, cold very windy drifting snow. Got up & packed George's lunch. Wasn't called till 6. Didn't do much of anything today. Went with Betty after groceries $10.22. Have just dragged all day.

Mar 14 # A nice sunny day & very nasty underfoot. John & Geo took off about noon after he'd taken a bath. I took one & did a washing. Jean called at 2:20 and wanted me to see if I could find John as he was to see a man for CD from Pittsburgh looked & drove all around and the second time they were at Park View both showing their drinks. Geo came home John wanted to borrow 5.00 but he wasn't ready to leave. When he got 11.00 out of my 40.00 already more than the groceries home he & Jean went out. Geo looked at pictures & part of them were upside down so he called John. I took off for Dolores when he said he was coming up but Geo pocketbook was empty so he must have given him about 4.00 not even any change for the 5.00 he took so had to give him 3.00 to go to work.

Mar 15 Geo didn't get called till 9:05 AM so we got up early. Read a little of the paper went to church. Came home and gave the house a real good going over thro at 5:30. Then did the ironing thro at 7:30. Had dinner at F. Dolores called & wanted me to come up there but had too much to do. Went over to John's and he fixed the film they spliced Sat wrong. Stayed till 10:30 and looked at pictures they took of Gloucester & Boston.

Mar 16 # Partly sunny & cloudy. Geo didn't get in till 7:30 this morning. Went to Dolores and took my cross to the jewelers. Broke chain Sat. taking bath. Came home at one, had dinner laid down for awhile. Geo slept nearly all day so he'll be ready for tomorrow I guess. Gryska came tonight and I told him about Pritchard's house. Wish I knew more people and had better ways of meeting them.

Mar 17 Sunny this morning changing to colder. For ten minutes at 2:30 I never have seen it snow harder. Betty & I went to lodge. Geo went out at 10:00 and never came home till 1:30. When we came from lodge Geo had dressed all up and insisted on going after Fred who didn't come in on #3. Betty wanted her car so we went to station. Geo wasn't there. Came later & still wouldn't let her have her car. We drove over to Carr's and it was there. Had a drink there and then to Park View had two there. Played cards with Joan Mc Kister. And she gave me the low down on a lot of things especially how the fellows thought Geo was a sucker & easily taken for a ride. It makes me so mad when people use him.

Mar 19 # Geo cashed check & gave me 130. Gave him 6.00. He washed the car and we went to Carr's and had a drink. Did the ironing and a few extras.

Mar 20 Went down & had my hair done 1.00. Went up to Dolores after I got the work done and didn't leave till 10 min after I was supposed to Geo had called home. He was sore. John borrowed Fred's car to use in trying to catch bad women. Got groc. 16.00. Put 50 in bank. Paid gas. el. 30.50 4.50 gas. Have 24.00 left.

Mar 21 A rather warm nice day. Dellie came while I was making cookies about 4. Geo left this morning at 10. Went to Dolores at 5:30. Stayed and ate a bite then up to Audrey's where we didn't leave till about 10:45. On Grand Central Ave saw our car & Geo had a woman. He stopped at yard office and I went to car. She was drunk. Geo tried to pull me out but got in middle. He was just taking her home. Took her to Snooky's. When she got out she left her pants in the seat where he or she had taken them off. Maybe you think I wasn't upset. We came home & he beat it to Griska's. I think to call to see if the woman had left. He came home & Betty & I right behind him. He wasn't drunk. He had driven out nearly a half tank of gas altho he said he'd only been to Green Lantern. I had filled car last night the woman Geo laid off. Says was worth 50.00

Mar 22 A cloudy day. Geo all apology really putting on a good act. Wait till tomorrow. Dora came late in afternoon and left about six. Dellie left shortly after. Still am so shocked I can hardly think. Betty had us for dinner.

Mar 23 Geo got bumped off his job. A very nice day. Geo as I expected blew up when I asked what he intended to do when he cleaned up and started out. Got dinner in fact he left when I was starting it 11:45. About 4:30 went to Park View and he gave me a couple of drinks. He went to mens room & when he came out he blurted out I had caught him Sat. night with a woman with her pants off and he would humiliate me in the dirt. I was mad got in car and came home. Got pencil & paper & went over & took their names & showed them the pants. They were sure disgusted with Geo & may be both of us. Got madder & madder.

May 24 A very lovely sunny day. Am literally exhausted today. Took Mrs Mosher & Dolores over to Mrs Smith where we got the makings for flowers. Haven't done much of anything all day but run around.

May 25 A very lovely sunny spring day. Gave Beth a bonnet for her birthday. Dolores bought her a dress & can can skirt. She is very cute. Took us most of the day. Stayed home last night. Had a big fire at Thatcher's which did a lot of damage to trees & pravillians. 200,000 to bottles. Geo went out #3.

May 26 Elizabeth Mary Polovick birthday 1 yr. Dolores dressed her all up and had her picture taken. Stopped here on her way home. Did a big washing and straightened the house all thro. It's a very warm lovely day. Betty and I went to Home Bureau. Put in 2.00 gas.

Mar 27 Rain & snow. Came home a little after 11 and did the dishes & ironing. Went & had my hair cut & washed & set. Did not stay permanent nearly gone. Went to Dolores & got the supper. Came home about 7. Geo gone to Scranton. Went to Hghts with Betty after her a prescription 8.00. Fred not home yet took 15.00 to work & is going to ride with someone. Hair 1.70 10 cent store .85.

Mar 28 Diane Marie Ellison birthday. Gave Diane 2.00 from us. John was home. Guess he had a real time for himself. Heard George come in back door so I left.

Mar 29 A nice day. After dinner went to Dora's. Dellie left about eight for home. Visited till about 1. She had Don's girl down. She was leaving Monday for Washington with her graduating class.

Mar 30 Dora had to go to Ithaca on CP Board meeting. Got in about 11:00. Guess it wasn't as bad as she expected. She tried on a number of skirts which were alright and marked blue dress for me. Donald came home with a high temp from basketball tonight not feeling too good.

Mar 31 Dolores Helene Polovick's Birthday. Cut out curtains for Dora for kitchen. Got some of them made. Dora made a cake for Dolores. I left after supper but Dolores had gone to Home Bureau. I went over and on the corner of Lake & Water saw Geo all dressed up white shirt. Went over but didn't have nerve enough so went back to Dolores & went to bed.

Apr 1 Rain. Opening fishing (trout) season. Lee got all ready to start at 4 AM. Wind very high. I was surprised that Steve didn't go fishing.

Apr 2 JoAnn called and after she dared me to meet her and Geo at Sekalko. I went but Geo wouldn't. When she got me in her car took me to Park View & he left. She insisted we try to find him but we didn't. Monkeyed around till 11 PM. When insisted I go home. When we passed the house he had come & she insisted we come in. I wouldn't so I think she was sore. What she didn't call him. Bet she'll do a lot of talking. Why does he try to make out I'm to blame. Does the man have no shame. Why does he lie? And peddle his troubles.

Apr 3 Helped what I could. Got Dolores groceries with Mrs. Moshier. Got supper. Mended. Plan to go to Ice Follies tomorrow. They had to go to church for scouts so I stayed with younger children.

Apr 4 Turned out to be a very nice day. Steve & boys went by train to Bath where we went on to Buffalo to the Ice Follies. Dolores wanted to go down to Dorothy's. Got lost & went to Peace Bridge. Made another mistake & were within 7 miles of Rochester. Got home 11:30. Dellie came & stayed at Fred's. I came home & stayed. Geo was here in bed about 9:30.

Apr 5 A rather nice day. Had our dinner over to Betty's. Geo was called but didn't come over. Guess he can't face us all together altho he called on them last night. Came home and went directly to bed. Dellie got here early yesterday & stopped at Sibley's. We didn't do anything but visit. Dellie showed some of the dishes to neighbors.

Apr 6 A rather nice day. Geo went out. Dellie called on about 9 people and she explained the dishes. She left about 7 for home. I was really pooped. Betty had supper ready so we ate over there. I did my dishes & watched TV. Geo came & you'd think by the way he acts this wasn't my home also. Didn't speak. Dolores went to Dr's & had sore on uterus burned off. Almost like boils.

Apr 7 John Robert Ellison birthday. By not having my book forgot John's birthday. Had some trouble cost $35.00. Went to Dolores. Geo was home but took Betty's car & went to Van Etten so neither of us went to lodge. He lied to her. Baked 4 pies 2 crusts & a batch of cookies. Made out income tax which I took down for Geo to sign. He wasn't home yet. Saw car at Griska's.

Apr 8 Rain this morning. Stayed up to Dolores's last night so as to be able to take care of kids. They had the Scouts spaghetti supper on. Dolores has been at the church most of the day. Steve came home with a severe sore throat but went down. They got home about ten. Dolores ironed till nearly one.

Apr 9 Steve went to work but came home at 2:30 with a high temp. Dolores called doctor & he gave her a prescription which cost 8.00. Helped Dolores mark rummage & washed up a lot of things. Alma Bell came & we all had a nice visit. Betty also came. Went to home bureau and taught how to make apple blossoms. Got home to Dolores about 11:45.

Apr 10 Dark & cloudy. Stayed with kids all day so Dolores could go & take care of rummage sale. Got their supper & left leaving the dishes. Cleaned up kitchen & did a few odd jobs. Geo came about 9:00 and by his looks you'd have thought I was in wrong house. Bet if it was one of his bitches she would have been met with smiles & kisses.

Apr 11 Cut out dress. Didn't get up very early. Went over to Betty's and he followed & pitched on me. He sure is sorry for himself. Got mad when I said some things after we came home & he left. Came back & got his dinner while I took Fran to sale. Bought curtains .20. Came home & did big washing. Geo left again & came in about 10:00. Asked me if I broke my ass making his bed. Makes you feel as tho' you'd like to do it again.

Apr 12 Alma Bell birthday. Went to church. Sewed up a dress. Took down the clothes & ironed them Geo came before I was thro. Shaved & took bath dressed all up & went out. Followed him & he got in a waiting car at Park View & went thro park. Never came in till two. Probably his girlfriend. Think it may be wise to put a detective on him. You'd think it was me doing wrong by the way he acts. Sewed on dress. Just have to put it together. Came in front door so his friend brought to the corner & he walked the rest so I wouldn't know.

Apr 13 A very sunny lovely spring day. Want to do some cleaning but haven't things to do with. John over this morning about 10. I was still in bed reading since 8. Geo wouldn't get up. Weighed 173 before dressing. Making a little progress. Gave upstairs a dust mopping. Geo went with John & as usual got felling pretty well. Called Fred to come & get him. He got 20.00 of groceries many I don't need. Can't settle down to anything.

Apr 14 x A very nice day. Cleaned or rather dusted & ran vacuum thro'. Geo came before I was thro. Cut out dress. Marked on job with Flinn. Dolores is having a lot of trouble with bleeding. Went to Doctors & he cauterized her again. Lost a lot of blood but feels better about. Geo still feels very abused because I took car but what else. How was I to take care of things here and what's the use of quarreling its too late for either of us.

Apr 15 Permanent. A very nice day. Dora came about 9:30 went up to Dolores and they or all of us went after bread. Came home & had lunch then we went to Pauldines & both had permanents. They cut my hair real short. Dora doesn't care for her permanent. Hope mine turns out well. Geo left me 8.00. Cost 3.25. Met him when he came in tonight & he wouldn't ride home. Walked all the way. Wonder who he hurt.

Apr 16 x A very lovely day. Didn't do much of anything. Fred didn't come home from his midnight yard job. Betty took car and found him at Pine Bar. Hadn't cashed his check. Betty took our car & went to pay bills. Fred came about 2:30 & we took car found Betty at A.P. Took ours & went fishing. When we came home Geo picked up his check 91.81 not much for him.

Apr 17 A very lovely day. Thought Geo would sign his check but he didn't so can't go shopping. He left it. Hope he just forgot to. Jumped in air and he gave me 30 for groceries. Spent 15 then he had too much to drink and demanded it back. I get so fed up with his childness I could leave forever.

Apr 18 # Stanley Barber's birthday. A very lovely day. Geo planted some things in garden. We went to Park View and there I saw Gryska and he was really lit. Took him over & showed him Pritchards house. Geo wouldn't go but went with Chuck in a truck & really got lit and he's to go out tonight. I should worry. Of course he was to Empire altho the said he wasn't.

Apr 19 A very nice day. Did not go to church but went fishing. I caught a carp and Geo a bull head & a sucker. Dolores & Steve had been to Ann's cottage and saw the car and stopped.

Apr 20 Fred took his car to have rear fenders fixed. Did a washing and an ironing.

Apr 21 Betty and I went to lodge. Geo didn't come with the car so we had to take a taxi. He came with six bullheads and a trout while we were gone. Dressed all up. Came about five with a guy and I piled in & we took him to Southport. Geo brought Fred's car home.

Apr 22 Fred came over and helped me wax and straightened. He cleaned the desk getting rid of a lot of paper. David put wax on dining which I gave a pretty good cleaning. The rest I just slicked over. Did some washing which I ironed. Crystal on my watch fell out so had to have that put back.

Apr 23 Dennis Hayward's birthday. Home bureau at our house. A nice day. Only six girls came. Geo marked on three and six today. Had everything done yesterday so its been just straightening. Had to wax kitchen floor and wash wood work. Geo paid for car & didn't give me any money till I jumped him. 20.00

Apr 24 A very nice day. Got a few groceries. Bought rags from Dolores neighbor. 1.50. She gave me another box. Also paid her what I owed her. Geo washed the outside of the car.

Apr 25 A nice day. Cleaned up the mess I made with rolling the rags. Dellie called from Horseheads and wanted me to go with her but I had Geo's lunch so she came about 5:30. had something to eat & we went. Got thro at 7:30 and went to Dolores then to violet show at PA YMCA. Had supper about 9 and she left for Dora's. Put sign on Pritchard's house.

Apr 26 # Rain Went to church. Was late meeting 6 and Geo had to wait which was painful for him. Went to show with Mrs Baker. She paid the way.

Apr 27 Raining. We got up early and went fishing. I didn't even try to. Geo got one small bullhead. He stopped in Watkins and again at Carr's. Went to bed after dinner. John here. He got $461 for the junk. After Geo went to work changed beds and did the washing.

Apr 28 Rain and very damp and cold. Made a cake and Spanish rice for dinner. Did the ironing. Geo went right to bed and has slept all day so he didn't get any sleep in Buffalo. Probably played cards wonder how much he lost.

Apr 29 Sun is out this morning. Geo expects to get bumped off 3-6 but didn't.

Apr 30 A nice day. Geo didn't give me any money for anything. Had a small check. $89. Paid 61 taxes & put 4.00 gas in car.

May 1 Sibley James Barber's birthday. Went up to Dolores and then up to Sibley's. He has a little work. Stayed until about one o'clock. Geo didn't get bumped.

May 3 # Did not got to church. Had dinner and after Geo went to work went up to Dolores.

May 4 A very nice day. Did a very big washing as did Betty. Geo gave the car a good washing.

May 5 Went to lodge. Geo painted inside of car and got the mats down. Took Bambi and had his hair sheared 7.50. As soon as we left he dressed up and took Betty's car. He cashed his check into silver dollars & proceeded to spend them. Put 10.00 so he has 40.00 and used 11.00 he had in change. He had two left of that. Paid milk bill 2.44. So figure he spent about 15.00

May 6 Geo marked on HB1 and NE4. Went out this morning. Cleaned all the upstairs today and straightened thro down. It was a very nice day. I'm really pooped tonight.

May 7 # Geo bought gas lantern 15.00 which John got at Winnick's. A very nice warm day. Went with Geo and he paid taxed and for the car. Gave me 25.00. I went to sale. Put 4.90 off gas in car. Got meat 5.00 at Drive Inn. Groceries at Walnut St. Had trouble with steering wheel & took it to Cornish. They fixed it 12.55. Could not move it. Had to replace broken switch controlling turn signals. Could have been bad accident.

May 8 A very nice day. Went to Dolores at 9 and took car of kids till about 7. Made a couple of cakes & got meals. Worked a little on hemming my dress which she measured.. Stopped and got groceries 10..00 at A.P.

May 9 # A very warm day. Straightened upstairs made a batch of cookies. George left for awhile. I laid down in afternoon and went to sleep.

May 10 A very warm day. Did not go to church. Did the washing. Made two lemon & a rhubarb pie. Cleaned house thro. Went to Dolores to a lovely chicken dinner. Then took pie to mother Ellison. Minnie was there. I didn't go in. Then to cemetery with flowers. Got back about 7 and had supper at Dolores. Came home & did ironing. Went out with John & Jean & had a couple of drinks. Went after Geo but he missed out as he didn't leave here till 8 this morning. Dolores pocket book. Fred nightdress. John two aprons.

May 11 Very warm today. George didn't get in until eight this morning. Laid on the couch and read most of the day. Felt too tired to move. Geo left about noon but came back in a couple of hours. Says he feels miserable.

May 12 A nice day. Windy but warm. Worked on hooked rug on back porch. Got meals. Made harvard beets for church. Geo went away for awhile. Said he played cards at the Y. Government check came 190.00. Jean's Aunt dropped dead yesterday & she wants me to take care of kids from 2-4 Thurs.

May 13 Cloudy & rather cool. Did not get up till late. Worked on rugs. Crochet most of the day. Straightened downstairs. Had dinner at Betty's. She went downtown and got herself a blouse. Rain in late evening. Cooked turtle.

May 14 # A sunny cold spring day. Paid lights water also Cornish's. With both checks had 315.00. Geo had 10.00 in silver. Gave him 24.00. Put $100 in bank making 1000 and 100 in checking. Made out check for 60 for Ins. & had 40.00 left. Came home & we took nap. Did not take care of John's kids. Jean's Aunt was buried this afternoon.

May 15 Cold. Dolores called early & wanted me to take care of kids while she went with Mrs Mosher after paint. She in a mess. I finished two rugs crochet for her. They got groceries & went to rummage sale where she saw a piano chair. I went down & got it .50 and music .5. Went & got 15.00 groc. Raining real hard. Steve & Kevy left for one nights.

May 16 Very chilly. Haven't done much of anything all day but get meals. Had chicken for dinner & made soup out of some of the turtle. Geo ate a little but spleens against it guess I'll take it up to Sibley. Geo went to Dolores & cut Doug & Stephan's hair. Steve gone on over 2 nights with scouts.

May 17 A little chilly. Got up early and did wash before going to church also work upstairs. Betty marked my good dress & I shortened. Did the mending. Had dinner with Betty. Aunt Leona, Jay, Louella & Harry here. Did the ironing. Took turtle & soup up to Sibley. Audrey has a Cadillac. Jay has new Ford. Harry got same in Jan. Sent Arloine a card & Mother Ellison.

May 18 Much warmer. Geo marked on 3-6. Took care of Beth & Doug. Dolores went & bought a desk which she charged to us also paint. Pritchard called & Fred ran as usual with the same results. Helped David & Kevy both with lessons. Kevy will still has to have a lot more.

May 19 Emmalina Eulalia Ellison 91 years. Rain nearly all day. Betty & I didn't get home till after four. It was a nice meeting. Pres. Signed increase in Railroad retirement. I was very tired. Fred slept all day & didn't meet Geo. Fred got bumped. Drove up to Dolores's tonight. Geo tried but couldn't make it. Wonder whats wrong. Hope its not in Buffalo.

May 20 Very, very warm. Geo worked in garden. I got some plants 1.90 & forgot peppers. Geo took bath shaved also took $20.00. I left after five for Geneva. Put in 2.00 gas. Dellie not there but had a nice time at Jean's. Dellie down to Dora's. Got home about 12. Put up my hair.

May 21 # Very, very warm. Met train. George got check & we went downtown & cashed it. Got 20. in silver. Gave me 110. and about 2 in change. George and I both went to sleep. Am not feeling very good.

May 22 A little cooler today. Haven't done much. Had planned to go after groceries early but Geo took off with car at 10:00 then had dinner so didn't get to go till 1:30 & A.P. Full. Got 15. of groceries. Took Geo to work. Later went up to Dolores. She has decided not to go to Buffalo. I didn't want to take care of kids but she is like Geo makes me feel guilty and as tho' it my fault. They are her children.

May 23 Much colder. Got up at 7 and did the cleaning. Made cake. Had dinner ready. Meet train George ate and went to bed. Slept all afternoon. Guess he played dominoes all night. For he went to bed early. Manion bumped him.

May 24 Sunny but rather cold. Did not go to church. After dinner Geo left and when he came back took a bath. Told me to get ready & we'd go out. He laid on bed & went to sleep and didn't get up till 7. I wanted to go to show but he didn't so home we stayed. John Foster Dulles died probably for greatest man of Peace of our times.

May 25 A very nice day. Much warmer but just right for working. Did the washing and ironing. Up at eight. Geo left about 11:30 & didn't come till 1:30. Had bought more tomato & pepper plants. Has garden completed.

May 26 # A very nice day. Geo washed the car and then left. I got tired of staying at home. Audrey came down had a bid on the lots. Said he'd take 4500 hundred. Haven't heard anything more.

May 27 Betty & I went downtown. Economy Day. Didn't see anything for myself. Betty got some things for the new baby. Geo marked on this old job BH1. Betty & I went to Dolores for awhile tonight.

May 28 Geo had a good check 165.00. He bought shirt & socks. Got 20.00 in silver. He now has 93.00. Gave 140.00 I gave him 20.00 of it. I had 75.00 left from last week. We went fishing came home about four & Geo went to bed. Betty & I went to home bureau at Helen Cosgroves. I was elected secretary.

May 29 Robert Bruce Ellison's birthday. A very warm day. Gave Bobby 2.00. His mother got him gun and a couple of other things. I went to Dolores and baked 2 batches of cookies & a cake. Got the groceries. Groceries 17.00 gas 3.90. I left for Dora's about five. Paid Sibley & my part of flower 1.20 each. Got home about midnight.

May 30 A nice day. Geo went away and when he came had had plenty. All he could think of was some place he shouldn't go. Told me to change and any thing I wanted to do he wouldn't. He went to sleep & when he got up said we'd go to races. Asked the Naida's. I didn't want to go or neither did they altho Mike told Geo he would but never told me so I thought we were going to drive in. Russian's next door wanted him to take them to hosp. Never got home till 9. and races began at 8. Naida's had gone. Geo was mad because when Mick asked if Geo was going to races I said no I guess to show. Fred & family went to. I waited up & told them how it was & they said they wouldn't have gone that late anyway.

May 31 Very warm. Went to church. Did washing, ironing mending shortened two dresses. Cleaned upstairs. Tired out.

June 1 Rainy Didn't do much of anything today. Worked putting gold on a curtain. Followed Geo to Park View had 3. Went to bed early.

June 2 Blood pressure is very high 243/120. Said I was alright to drive car. I'm sick. Saw Geo about 1:30 & he was stopped second house on Norton and when he went to work he went there again. Wonder what is up. Had trouble today. $150.00. Geo took 66.00 silver dollars and squandered them. Went for hair cut. I drove out with Fred's car at 1:30 & guess Geo was back of me so he came home & changed. Saw him at 2:30 at Madison. He went to Green Lantern & then in a round about way to his mothers. After resting I went to Dolores & helped Kevy about 4 hours then to the doctors.

June 3 A very nice day. I am sick. Can't sleep. Geo raved & ranted at me till after three. He's going up that street still bothers me. The car is a mess. Covered with dust. Went up to Dolores. Closed out B Books she had & found I had let them have 18.00 2.00 & 3.00. Also there was 12.50 for Lounsberry house besides about 700 for rowed while they lived there.

June 4 A very lovely day which looks as tho it may be very warm. Geo got his insurance check and drew 89. so he had 114. Gave me 100. Very warm and I didn't do anything. Geo got his shoes tapped & laid 4.00 on counter & shoemaker denied it.

June 5 Very hot. Paid Dolores paint bill 77.26. Mrs Mosher owed 27. Dolores owes 50.09. Mrs Mosher paid. I got some groceries and I'm all in. Rain this afternoon. Lighting put out the TV. Have it only part of time any how.

June 6 Very warm. Haven't done much of anything all day. Made a cake and a batch of cookies and the meals of course.

June 7 Elmer Casady birthday. Did not go to church very warm. Did my washing and three rubbers for Betty. Straightened thro & I'm just sick tonight. Betty went to her mothers and her aunt was there so she had a nice time. Kenny took a boy with him. They got back about nine. TV gone part of evening.

June 8 Very warm. Did the ironing piece meal. Betty did three rubbers of clothes. Round house called & he said wanted him to come to book of niles class. He came home at 1:30 and wanted nugget & gold. Came back about 2 and raved & ranted till about 4. Sometimes I think I'll just start & scream & keep on screaming it unnerves me so.

June 9 Dr Appointment 1PM. Very hot & I'm miserable. Blood pressure is down to 170 nerves are shot. Ordered no to eat anything after six o'clock. Think that means after supper. Geo drove to Dolores. Kenny stepped on sharp stone & cut bottom of his foot. Betty bought new washer & dryer from Sears today.

June 10 Very hot. Laid on couch most of day. Got up early and dust mopped upstairs all the rest of day down. Mrs Baker came over. Betty had me to supper. Dolores down & got onions & lettuce. Asked Fred up to launching of the boat Sunday. Kenny burned on arm from exhaust pipe in David's hot rod. Sears delivered today.

June 11 A very very hot day hottest this year. Haven't done much of anything today. Played cards with Kenneth. Went to Home Bureau dinner at Hickory House 2.10 .25 tip. Wished I'd stayed at home. Geo gave me his check and I'm to pay the car. Gave him $5. Saved 35.00 last even after paying Dolores $50.

June 12 Much cooler today. Sewed up tan & black dress. Was sick all night. Coughed and nose so full couldn't sleep. Had bad nose bleed. Went after groceries and laid down for rest of day. I surely feel badly.

June 13 Did just what was necessary. Fred has to show himself most of the time and keep Betty on pins & needles. I never see how the boys act. Sometimes I'm ashamed their my children. I sure did a poor job teaching them the right road.

June 14 Manage by working a little while at a time to straighten thro. It was getting pretty sticky. Had dinner over to Betty's. Don''t see how she keeps going and feels so badly.

June 15 Feel very badly. Geo slept all day and then was ready for the evening. How he does it is more that I can see. It's no wonder two thirds of his time he feels bad. Never lets the stuff really get out of his system.

June 16 Sibley changed his 56 Hudson for a 57 Ford. Made a batch of cinnamon jumbles. Felt badly. Drove up to Dolores tonight.

June 17 A nice day. Betty and I went down and got a travel clock for Dora and about 5 left for Dora. Got home about 10:00. Am terribly tired but think I'll soon feel better. Fred didn't come home so I had to wait & pick up Geo.

June 18 Cool. Geo took check in morning and had spent 13.00 for clothes. Shirt gave to Kenny a bright yellow, which he didn't like Kenny that’s two now. Gave me a 110.00 check 129.00. He was real high but not quarrelsome. Baked lemon pie, chocolate cake & a batch of peanut butter cookies.

June 19 Betty & I started after groceries. I left the medicine bottle at home so she got bread & when we got back Dellie was here. Had dinner at Betty's. Saw people on Broadway went up to Audrey's. Had supper at Dolores. Came home & she left about 8:30 having to stop in Horseheads. Gloria is going to board & room with Harriet’s sister.

June 20 Took porch lounge to Dolores tonight. Steve launched his boat. A very nice day. Got up early and went after groceries. Paid light & gas bill. When I came home a kid ran toward my car and fell just before he got to it. I wasn’t going only about 5 mile an hour & when he started I stopped. He hurt his elbow. Mrs Edwards came out & said she saw it & my bumper hit him in chest. I knew he never touched the car, but I was frightened. Kid Steve Kritzer on Norton.

June 21 A very nice day. Did a very big washing. Fred & Betty went to Harkers. I straightened thro. Went down to John's where I had dinner and a very nice visit. They have a new living room set lipstick red. Guess they've had it about a month. Dotty & Steve went to lake for day taking their boat.

June 22 Kids mother wrote a note saying I didn't hit the kid. Rained all day. Made bake beans & potato salad for Ann. When I took them over Geo stopped washing the car & changed his clothes took 5.00 from my pocketbook & when someone brought him home he was ready to start again & go in car. I got in and asked him why he left when he knew I'd only be gone a few min. He said all your sore at is because he took the five. Kept.

June 23 A very nice day. Baked a batch of molasses cookies. Took Ann over some & gave Betty a dozen. Went to bed at 10:30. Got strawberries. Geo picked most of them. Trying to fight. I tried to be nice. Threw 5.00 on floor. Said he'd pay rest payday. I listened for a while said I wasn't going to quarrel & went to bed. He came upstairs & yelled for about an hour. Betty heard & couldn't get back to sleep.

June 24 A very nice sunny day. Did the strawberries we got last night I had 10 qts after hulling froze 7 leaving about a qt & a half for eating. Straightened thro and did some mending. The road is so badly torn up could not get out with cars, but fixed tonight so cars can get thro.

June 25 A very nice day. George's check 115. Gave me 100. Put away 55 of it so we now have 350. Didn't do much of anything today. Went with George when he cashed check. Had a couple of drinks.

June 26 Very warm. Road men are tearing up Center St and the noise of the machinery is terrific. Finished dress I started except hand work this morning. Going after groceries & up to Dolores.

June 27 Very hot. Didn't do much of anything all day but lay around & get meals. Of course Betty & I with Bobby went to show John put on. Guess Geo left as soon as we were out of sight. Had cleaned up anyway. John threw a party for actors. Fred went to Scranton.

June 28 95% Very hot. Did not go to church but did the washing & ironing. Also straightened thro. Betty went after Wayne to her peoples. He was glad to get back to be on the go. Am really pooped Geo came early & stopped. They used him as engineer & he was very pleased with himself and now wants to go much more.

June 29 97% Very, very hot. Didn't do anything but meals all day. In evening Geo left & had a few drinks. Came home & put on white clothes & he stopped at Park View again. Then up to Dolores they had gone after strawberries. Geo cut Kevy's hair or rather pulled him. Stopped in Park where he went thro zoo & took a ride. Watched monkey act & came home.

June 30 # Geo finished work in garden for Gear. My mother Viola Melissa Sibley born 1875. 8 long years. Much cooler today. Got ready & went to Drs and my appointment was yesterday. Betty went in the morning. Geo gone about an hour & came back in fighting mood. This time it was the telephone. Guess we'll have one of our own. The road is progressing. Went with Fran to a couple of house sales. Gone cup cake pan & beater .35. Geo 2.00

July 1 Permanent Rather hot but cooler than yesterday. Baked cake cookies & blueberry muffins. Straightened house thro and Betty gave me a tony. It is kinky probably used too small curlers. Next time use her larger ones hope it will tame down.

July 2 Julia Hamilton's birthday. Cool sunny a very pleasant. Geo had 134 pay gave me 119.00. Bought fence 2.70 paid bar bill & had 10.00 left. Fred & Betty still having trouble. How men like to pick a woman when she is down. Betty's nerves just gave out. Fred gave her 30.00. got her a couple of second hand fans. I sure have a mess of hair.

July 3 Have Dr. appointment. Cool sunny a very pleasant day. Nothing with sugar. No pop. No banana's. More medicine 6.80. Groceries 13.00 gas 2.00 Dr 3.00 Money sure goes. Went up to Dolores after supper and stayed till about 11. Geo got in early.

July 4 # Much warmer today Geo slept all the morning. About 4 we went & had a drink at Park View and as Fred had gone to work Bobby, Wayne, Betty & Geo & I went to Mansfield & saw pony & Kenny who was working at Carnival came home & went to auto races. Bobby acted like the devil.

July 5 Went to church. Came home & washed and cleaned house through then did the ironing. Am all in tonight.

July 6 Wayne Harker Ellison's birthday 8. Betty had party for Wayne. We gave him the usual 2.00. Dolores came down. Went with Geo while he made his usual rounds. Came home & had supper then went to Dolores & Geo cut Stephan’s & Doug's hair. I pined up a couple of dresses for Dolores.

July 7 Very warm. Betty & I went to lodge. Went and looked for chest of drawers. Haven't done anything but straighten thro.

July 8 # Very warm. Haven't done much of anything all day. Went to bed in afternoon. Got up & made the round of the beer joints. Fred came in on #3 and called Betty at 9:30 and was in usual condition.

July 9 Georgia Ellison birthday 13. Very warm. Cashed check 150.00. Put away 100.00. Got groceries. Took care of Dolores's kids while they went after black raspberries. She gave me 11 qts at .15 & kept 12. Three car loads went. Fred & Betty went & got 55 lbs of sour cherries. I cut out dress. Blue skirt & flowered front. Awful job as it had to be pieced.

July 10 Very warm. Got up early & took care of berries. Canned 8 pts. Gave Betty 1 qt kept 2 to eat & put rest in freezer. Geo left about one to go to book of rules class. Came home after visit. Left very soon & wouldn't let me go stayed till 7.00. I mended old hammock all afternoon. Nervous as a cat. John began his vacation. Was seen at Mary Gulka's.

July 11 Very warm today. Got up early with Geo and changed the beds & washed. Cleaned upstairs before it got too hot. Did the washing and did a pretty good job of cleaning down. Tried to fix hot water heater. Fred came over & hope its better. Started a knitted stole for Ervesta which I raveled out a dozen times.

July 12 # Did not go to church. Got up and did the ironing before Geo got up. Fred took David to camp & they got 26 qts raspberries and 34 lbs sweet cherries. Betty pooped. Kenny & Mike helped. Went to bed for awhile in afternoon. John & CD came back from man overs in Van Etten today. Would have liked to have driven over but Geo wouldn't.

July 13 Very warm. Haven't done much but straighten house. Went up to Dolores stayed to supper. Helped Betty pit the cherries then drove over to John's with a letter from Sushins and he was mad at me as well as them. He had been drinking. Gave me the money & I took it but intended to take it back in the morning. Just left as he wasn't even reasonable.

July 14 Stopped & talked with Mr & Mrs Mosher. Rather warm gave Geo 5.00 which he said he gave to barber. Had his hair cut. Came home & started tearing our walk which Fred & boys finished. John came over & had paid paint bill. He & his father had a few drinks. Then nothing to do but I must go to and he had four or five bottles also John. Came home & he wasn't satisfied but went again. We went & got P. bread then up to Dolores where we had supper then he went to sleep on couch. Came home about nine.

July 15 A very nice day. A little warm in 80. Straightened thro did a rubber of clothes and ironed more than an hour. Went up to Dolores had supper there got her 10 loaves of bread & hamburg rolls. Owe her .11 from 1.26 roast she bought me. Did some mending & looked over 2 qts raspberries. Kevy very upset about going to camp as they changed him.

July 16 Very warm. Geo got in fight with Tom McElligot who was drunk. Broke his watch which will cost $11.00 to fix. Check 164.64. Got 2.00 groceries. Gave Geo 15. Put away 100.00 Put 3.00 gas. Fred & Betty went to see Mrs Harker in Montour Hospital & at 7:30 she called & Betty & I drove our car & got her.

July 17 Very warm. Sewed up a dress. They took a couple of the large rubbers to Blanche's kids. I sold 4 rabbits for 4.00. Went to Park View and got the cabbage. Dolores called before I had my work done to take care of kids. Finished up. Got about 5.00 of groceries. Then went up there till 11:00. They went to Penn Yann to blanket party which is an evening swimming.

July 18 Very warm. Geo picked a pail of cucumbers. Had to make his usual calls. Went to see the firemans parade. He probably only saw half of it as he disappeared. Fred started before he went after David. Kenny brought him home 8:30. He got bumped & he was mad. After an argument Betty gave him 2.00 and the keys. Came home at 2:30 and he was called to go on job he marked on.

July 19 A very warm humid day. Breath very short. After taking Geo to work turned fan on and slept till about 12 when David came over. Gave Geo 2.00. Paid 1.10 Ann for eggs. Caught up on church dress 3.20. Put up 3 pt saccarin pickles.

July 20 Very hot. Picked beans & thought I would drop. Had 3 pts to freeze. Just haven't done much of anything except knit.

July 21 Very hot. Went up to Dolores & she was baking. After I came back Betty & I took beans, tomatoes & cukes down to Jean's. John had drunk himself crazy & beat her up & she called in the police & they had to talk to him. He was gone when we came home we looked at a couple of places but he wasn't there. Had CD car.

July 22 Very warm changed my bed & did a good sized washing this morning. Dolores called & wanted me to bring her floor. Pritchard came over & said house was sold. Geo marked on 5&2 which I hate for it seems as tho I never can get the work done. Everytime I turn around to eat & he always makes an ass of himself.

July 23 # Very warm here. Managed to dust mop upstairs. Went to beer joints with George. After supper did the ironing. Cashed Geo check. Got $6.00 of groceries and Dolores called & wanted me to get her some stuff so wasted the morning up there. Got her a gal of vinegar to make our pickles. Took her pickles & she said there weren’t enough for a batch so let Mrs Mosher have them.

July 24 Dr appointment 1:30. Supposed to lose 5 lbs. Very warm. I had lost 3 lbs. Gave me some medicine to curb my appetite. Also prescriptions that cost 7.00 got salts .40 & yarn 1.35. Stopped from Dr to store got 6.00 groceries. Rained very hard here about 7:30. Could not get to sleep until after 3. Paid payment on car & put in 4.00 gas. Gave Geo 2.00.

July 25 Cooler. Haven't done much that showed. Prepared & froze 3 pts of beet greens & 3 pt of beets. George picked cukes to put up 1 qt dills & 1 pt sweet. Also picked beans pail full. Prepared 8 pts to freeze. Went to Griska's with him & two fellows came over & got slips of his plant. He dressed all up & I think had all intentions of making a night of it but after a bit came in & went to bed about 9:30.

July 26 Did not go to church. Baked 2 kinds of cookies & a chocolate cake. Geo called for 3:20. Fred for 3:30. Betty & I went to Dolores till 9:15 PM. Came home & gave upstairs a good cleaning. Steve's TV went bloey. Watched TV till 12:30. Took bath. Very warm this afternoon. Stephan not feeling very well. Ate apples. Gave Geo 5.00. Sold 2 more rabbits. Took pickles to Dolores.

July 27 Very warm. Cleaned all the way thro good downstairs. After Geo got up about 2 & he'd had something to eat went out & had a couple of drinks.

July 28 Very warm. Geo picked pail of beans, cukes which Dolores wanted to go with what she had. Went with Geo to beer joints and had 2 drinks & he 4 then to Cornish & had transmission oil changed at 21750. Took car out on 17 when he went 90 & decided muffler is blown. Went to Green lantern where I had 2 more & my stomach began to cramp. Came home. Got supper & cut beans. Took cukes to Dolores. Betty went to Dr. & he said in about a week her baby would be here.

July 29 Very warm. Haven't done much today. Dora came down and we went to Outlet store. Geo prepared the walk for cement. Dolores stayed until 11:30. Geo got some beer. Dora says everything just about burned up in Candor Lawn all brown. Sewed on dress.

July 30 Very hot. Went with Dora downtown but felt so badly she brought me home & she went back. Pains that started in stomach. Tuesday very bad. Geo & I went & got muffler on car 35.00. Grease 2.00. He had cement delivered 19.00. Got groceries with Dora 8.00. Check was 166.00. Put away 75.00 have 7000.00. Have 10.00 of pay left and had 14.00 from last. We went up to Sibley's for hr & half. She left about 8:30. John took our car to go to the Adirondacks with the kids tomorrow.

July 31 A nice rain last evening but its very warm again this morning. Haven’t done much of anything all day terribly hot & muggy. Kenny has got himself in real trouble. Steve and Dolores are going to lake & spend night on boat. Mrs Rohre hit by car. Had broken leg & head lacerations.

Aug 1 Cooler but still very warm. Did a washing & managed to dust mop upstairs. John didn't come with car. Ann Hgzik's niece married today. She was over & told me about. Fran over. Geo picked beans so Betty had eleven pts so now we have 37 pts. Won't be many more. Fred worked yard job 8 – 4 for which he's assigned.

Aug 2 An ideal day. Dolores family , I and Fred’s three youngest went to Barber reunion. Left about 4:15 & went to Alma Bells where we stayed till 7. Geo wouldn't go but went but with John & tied on a real good one. I was thoroughly disgusted. John came up with car & had driven 800 mi. Did the ironing.

Aug 3 # Rain, haven't done much of anything a little mending & meals. Geo made his usual rounds. Just haven't felt like doing much of anything. Betty did the washing & is so upset by the way Fred is acting is about out of her mind. Her mother wrote she is just miserable & in a lot of pain. Hope they aren't both in hospital at same time.

Aug 4 Rain. Fred went to see the man & everything straightened up with Kenny for which I am truly thankful. Went up to Dolores with cakes & Kevy came home with me to overhaul David's hot rod. Worked on the stole. Anxious to get it done. Put up 1 ½ qt saccarin pickles.

Aug 5 Geo took his 24.50 check got David 100 lbs rabbit food & a hair cut & then proceeded to the various beer joints. Took stones to barber shop for an excuse. Said he went downtown trying to find Marie Daily but bet it was the other bitch. Lew Pritchard was arrested last night for drunken driving. Put up 180.00 bail. Finished dress.

Aug 6 Nice day. Got bread for Dolores & some groceries at Walnut for us both. Geo check 152.23. Put away 100 & got 9.00 groceries. Fred got 171.00. Gave Betty 100 & proceeded to squander rest. Got good & drunk. Had Dolores & family down for supper & Kevy went home. Steve has bought a Chevy 500.00. Gave them a lot of onions, carrots, beets & all the cukes.

Aug 7 David Lee Ellison is 13, 1959. A very nice day. Straightened thro the house. Betty had Dolores & us for a spaghetti supper & cake. Geo went away at 10 & never came back till 3:15. Had gone to Fisher & had his eyes fitted 51.00. Also stopped at all beer joints. Too tired to go after groceries. Washed hair & took a bath after Geo went. Finished stole for Ervest. Charlie Benjamin died yesterday morning.

Aug 8 A very nice day. Haven't done much. Betty has cleaned washed & ironed. Pains started last night. Took her to hospital at 5:30. Baby boy born at 8:20 6lbs 10 oz. Says it looks like Fred. Hope he doesn't act that way. Fred went to Scranton. I called Harker's. Mrs Harker very bad.

Aug 9 Cool & cloudy. Geo and I went looking for blackberries he picked nearly a qt but found no patch drove 10 miles. Fred got in about 10 this morning. Didn't get up to see Betty till night. Had a bad electric storm & I got soaked. Fred stayed out last night till about 4 this morning.

Aug 10 A very nice day with one shower. Got up and felt lazy. Did a washing. Saw Betty & baby. Went & got flowers which I took up. David & I went to see Mrs Harker. She's a very sick woman. David lost 4.00 thinks did took it out his pocket. Only got upstairs cleaned. Got home at 11:00. Fred went to Scranton.

Aug 11 Cool but got warmer in afternoon. Baked 2 batches of cookies and 2 cakes to take to Mr Harker and no one would go. David is supposed to peddle paper next week. Did my ironing named baby Thomas Craig. Wayne had a bicycle accident about noon and was hurt rather badly. Came home & doctored him. Fred got in 6 this morning.

Aug 12 My father Robby Hobby Barber born 1871 died 1913 dec 15. Ervesta Kay's anniversary took her present Sunday knitted white stole. Hope she likes it. Did up 7 qts of tomatoes & a 5 pts. She & kids here most of afternoon. Did Betty's wash & ironing & straightened thro house & am I pooped. Fred never came home from hospital. Car was at yard office at 3 when Geo came in.

Aug 13 A very nice day. Mrs Harker to be operated on today. Malignant tumor in colon. Dear God may she be well. Betty came home. Fred out but left his check. Came about 3. Mrs Harker died about 5:30. Took Betty down but too late. Geo had to show himself. He'd been drinking. Dottie gave Betty shoes & a bottle warmer & made her a nice cake. I gave her a blanket.

Aug 14 Dr appointment 1:30. Very, very hot. My blood pressure much better but blood not so good. Got groceries helped Betty what I could. She is very weak. Kids drive her about out her mind. Straightened thro and went after groceries 12.00. Paid 60 insurance check 145.60. Gave Geo 21.60. Paid gas 6.00 Dr 3.50 & medicine 5.00. Lights 18.00.

Aug 15 # Terribly hot. Washed dishes & took some care of baby. Geo slept all day. Betty ate with us. She feels terrible. Geo & I went to Newfield to see Mrs Harker She looked lovely. Drove around by Spencer & Geo got out at picnic grounds. Fred stopped also and didn't get home till two. Brought Dannie Russell with him, the drunken bum.

Aug 16 Very hot. Fixed David's suit & pressed the other kids. Made a big salad. Fred took stuff from garden & a cake Ann made & one I made. Dolores was hurt because they didn't ask her to Harker's. Went to Dora's & nothing to eat there. Fred didn't come till 11:30. The baby was very good & I took a nap in afternoon. John borrowed 15.00 for police picnic.

Aug 17 # Very, very hot. Took care of baby and washed dishes. Bobbie has drove her all day demanding attention. Got hurt twice by not minding. She did a big wash. I didn't do much of anything but meals. Guess I'm just lazy. Certainly don't have much ambition.

Aug 18 Not quite so hot but still mighty uncomfortable. Did a big ironing for Betty and not much all the rest of the day. Started Beth a knitted dress. Had supper over to Betty's. She is feeling better. David was with a kid who broke his wrist about one. He & Tommy Taylor rode with him & he rode bicycle to hospital. Thought I'd get up to Dottie's but didn't.

Aug 19 Dr Voorhees 10:30 PM. Kept date very hot. Charge cost 32.00. As soon as we had dinner Geo left & of course didn't come back till he had plenty & Dellie & friend Mabel were here. Then he went back. Came about 7. Had dinner & got ready for fair. I left tickets on dining room table under his cigarettes & he didn't pick them up. Boy was he mad. Came near having two accidents. Wayne & I went anyway.

Aug 20 Very, very hot. Did a washing & both mine & Betty's ironing and I'm pooped. Had supper over there. After Fred came took our car to take engineer home & didn't come back till ten. Took kids up to Steve's & no water in radiator. Something wrong with carburetor. When I got back they went to beer joint & stayed till 2. Baby fussy till after one. Paid car & had 43.00 left. Gave Geo 5.00.

Aug 21 Very hot. George got his glasses 51.00 good solid frames think they are stainless steel instead of silver. Don't look bad after seeing him for a while. He sold last 4 baby rabbits to woman in Griska's we went to see Sibley. Cora came out yesterday & he started a new job yesterday. Gave Geo 3.00.

Aug 22 Rain & much cooler tonight. Put up 14 qts tomatoes & 8 pts chilli sauce. Stephan came down to stay & Kevin gone to 1000 Islands with scouts. Steve picked tomatoes a bushel & took half. I had left brought me half bushel pears. Fred & Betty took Bobbie to fair & baby fussed most of time. Gave Geo 3.00.

Aug 23 # What a day! Cool. Went to bed in afternoon. Geo left about 4:30 and I got macaroni ready. Called Park View about 6 & he had left there an hour before. Took kids to park & then drove downtown. Saw car & him come from E. side hotel & he was bad followed him to Nigger joints on 5^th St & he came out with a nigger & went into Berry's when he came out 2 more niggers & he went to Gryska's. Took car home & went back. Had a drink & he borrowed 5.00 to pay niggers. They were leaving with car & I told Geo & they were almost in road. I ordered them out & got in drivers seat. Geo told me to get over and when I didn't he slapped me up good. He pounded me good. Took nigger to Berry's after their car. They admitted they were going to take car. Bartender stopped Geo from hitting me. Bent my glassed very badly.

Aug 24 Very warm. Baked 2 batches of cookies. Geo took car to station but we went & got it. Went & had my glasses straightened. Got terribly hot. Did not feel like doing anything. Straightened thro. Geo took car but I went after it.

Aug 25 Very warm. Went up to Dolores about 11:00 and stayed till five. She has a cankered sore throat & Steve is sick also. Stopped & got 8.00 of groceries got supper. Geo asked me to go to park & we were there till 10:45. Started the mixed pickles. Had the work to do up when I got back.

Aug 26 Very hot. Rained from 2 o'clock on. Bad thunder showers. Fred & Betty went to Harker's. Got tomatoes & corn. I made 18 pts mixed pickles & canned 7 qts tomatoes. Went up to Dolores in evening. I feel perfectly miserable. Guess I'd be better off not to take any medicine. Got soaked taking car down. Took bath & went to bed about 12.

Aug 27 156.84 helped Betty with corn. Kevin Stephen Polovick 14. Very warm with showers early. Geo going around with sore head. Didn't give me any money but went out & filled up & spent money on cowboy boots for Wayne also groceries that I didn't need. 6.80 for canned ham. He can do as he jolly well likes. He really should be proud of himself then he had the gull to tell me they said he should have given me more when they wanted him arrested.

Aug 28 Very hot. Geo still acting like a spoiled brat. His mother gave him a wonderful disposition. Doing a big washing. Straightened all the way thro. Helped Betty by peeling 1 ½ bu tomatoes & she dried my clothes in her dryer. Did the mending & the ironing.

Aug 29 Got up at 10 went after my glasses 32. Took 30 out the saving. Had 800. Gave Geo 50 got his & loaned Steve 20 which he hasn't paid back. So have only 700.00 left. Drove to John's as they have all been sick and about one to Dolores. Geo came up about 3 & had kids. Wanted Stephan but Dolores wouldn't let him go. Instead of bringing kids home he paid them to walk & he stayed at Park View. I got supper & took a lot of clothes Betty brought from her mother to Mrs Owens after ironing them.

Aug 30 Very hot. Cloudy & sprinkles of rain. Took Geo to work & went back to sleep till 11:00. Did up work & at 1:30 started for Dora's. Got there 2:30. Went on farm. Got home 12:45 & they were to bed so stayed up till 3 & went after Geo only to be misused. Should have let him get home the best he could. Last day for Lackawanna Station. It seems such a shame. Took 50 more from savings 650. Fred took 10 from my pocket.

Aug 31 Very hot. Haven't done much of anything. Right after dinner Geo left with car and when he came home about 7 was he plastered. Got him something to eat & he went to bed. Said Russian woman was dead 7 I had better get her flowers. He didn't give me any money. Went to see Ann & she sent kids around. Went to Dolores with tomatoes & cukes. Fred picked. Lacawanna started over Erie tracks.

Sept 1 Very hot. Went to lodge & paid my dues. Ann & I went & got mass card & flowers for Russian woman on other side of Betty. Got 11.25 gave Gregg Dickinson & Kathy Hyzik .25 each flower 5.75 mass 5.00. Peeled pears for Betty. So very hot I waited & cleaned upstairs. Stayed up & went after Geo till 3. Rained hard about 2.

Sept 2 Very hot. George slept most of day just getting up to eat till 4 then off again till 7. When he came home brought kids two jumping toys. There's no hope for a man 62 that seems to be getting more childish every day he lives. Got a table spread which he threw over the front carseat & of course it had to be as gaudy as anything he could find. Bumped off 15 and by taking on temporary on HB1 loses bump & probably 1 more trip.

Sept 3 135.25 Very warm & muggy. Took Geo to work but he wouldn't give me his check. Told him insurance should be paid & he said pay it then. Wonder if he wants it paid from vacation money. He acts as tho its my duty to wait on him & take care of his clothes & he need do nothing but stay in beer joint & buy drinks for the women. He sure make an ass of himself but can criticize other men. Have appointment at 2 to have hair cut.

Sept 4 24.50 Eulalia Ellison 1926. Dr appointment 1:30. Blood pressure normal nearly for me nerves better weight 168 ½ lost nearly ten pounds. Got a few things at store. Geo told Betty we were not going any wheres this vacation. Did a big washing & canned five pts of pears. Guess they'll never get ripe. Geo went away this morning after a bath. Put some gas in. had 10 gal of roof paint. Bought himself a new shirt 4.95. he's really getting togged out.

Sept 5 Rather cold this morning but real hot by noon. Got up 5:10 & stayed up. Dolores went to Drs & she has a relapse of the virus. Did a big ironing & cleaned thro. Helped Betty with her ironing tonight. Fred out getting drunk. Called her about 9:30 & got off some of his smart talk. Florence Kimble telephoned they wouldn't be here till Monday.

Sept 6 Much warmer. Geo stayed in bed most of the day. My back & hip have been bothering badly. Richard called to patch up things between Geo & his mother. All Richard is afraid of is he'll have mother on his hands. He stayed till after midnight. Geo showed them our slides & movies and I gave his two granddaughters fish, shells & food. Geo gave them sand & stones. Elaine 7 the oldest is a bold piece while the other 5 is shy.

Sept 8 Harold Hamilton's birthday. A very nice sunny hot day. The Kimbal's left about 9:30 and we.

Sept 10 Very warm we left about 10:30 for Susquehanna where we called on Ralph Congill who wasn't home & Ann Herbert whose mother is very bad. Then on Mrs Lillebridge & Helen Sampson. Had supper with Mrs Arnold then to Binghamton & saw Harry & Luella then to Johnson City to see Aunt Leona. Got home about 11:30. Home Bureau was at Betty's & they were just leaving. Bad storm in Binghamton.

Sept 11 Started from John's at 5:15 mi 23676 with full tank. Stayed in car about 140 in PA from W. Virginia line. Canned a pk of plums and about 1:30 Geo came & wanted to go somewhere. Had the car ready so I packed the best I could & we left about 4:30 and John let us take binoculars & light meter also pillow. Fred took check & went & tanked up then came home & rowed with Betty.

Sept 12 Alma Owens Ellison's birthday. Gas at Duncannon PA 3.85 gal 13.3 mi 23900 breakfast .42 mi 24041. Winchester Virginia 2.85 7 gal 35.3 cents Toanoak 35.5 – 8.7 3.00. Got 5.00 groceries. Geo got white hat.

Sept 13 # Left Shawsville VA where we stayed in motel 4.00. Not heat & very damp very good bed. Mi 24264 tank ¾ full. 8:20 Standard time. Bristol 3.00 reg 9.7 24403 2 qt oil .75 1.50 ready to Johnson City & Silverville to 411-441. Over Smoky Mts of Tenn. Stopped just out of Silverville while Geo went into Fort Weare game Park. Has been cloudy most of day. 4.00 gas 34.9 cents 11.9 gal. Out of Cherokee where he got slides. Also got books & slides at Fort Weare. Geo took wrong road out of Smoky Mts. & he got on the worst winding road we were ever on.

Sept 14 Started at 9:30 mi 24688 with ½ tank of fuel. Cloudy. Stayed at Dogwood Motel 5.00 very nice room. Near Chattanooga 3.00 33.9 24745 – 8.8 gal. 24868 – 2.06 6.8 31.9 2.00 in Alabama just out Ottalla. Went thro Rock.

Sept 15 Stayed at Cedar Lane at Trussville Ala. 5.00 24915 mi with half a tank of gas. Rained hard most of the night still raining at 9 when we started 16 mi from Birmington. Nice motel. Sept 16 # Leona Siverson birthday. Mi 25308. Stayed in kitchenette cabin stopped about 8 – 4:40 just out of New Orlean Louisiana drove 394 yesterday biggest day. 9 AM our time 3.00 .34.4 8.7 gal. Took tour of New Orleans on bus after driving around 2.75 each & boat ride in bay 2.75each. Got out of there at six their time.

Sept 17 25451 mi with nearly a tank of gas stayed in a road park out side Morgan City LA. Got gas Jennings mi 25563 3.00 9.2 gal .33. At 12:30 S.T. Its very warm. Saw three accidents in less than half an hour. Stayed at last one, a cattle truck tipped about 100 6 mo calves Brahmas & nearly half killed or smothered. Stayed out side Huston A hard day. Very hot.

Sept 19 Got cabin at Courtesy Court 4.00 with kitchenette mi 26117 full. Got in Monterrey about one and of course Geo had to go shopping immediately. It was terribly hot and I waited two hrs. I was sore then he drove around and at last decided to go to Rio hotel where he left me and again went shopping. Waited till nearly 8 then we went to Sanborus & had supper. Bought me a pocketbook & 2 billfolds. Took a ride in a carriage & went to a night club. Got in about 2:30.

Sept 20 # George got up early & we went to breakfast at hotel. He again went shopping and to the lobby where he met some Americans. Had dinner about 3 at hotel & went to bull fight at 4:30. its not for me. Got home abut 7:30 had a lunch & we went to bed about 9:30. Wrote cards for 4 hrs this morning.

Bought over 40.00 of stuff of course Geo had to have a hat 5.00 & bulls horn. 3.75. I got shoes 8.80. Took all the plants & vegetables on the border. Hotel bill & garage 14.00 for two days at Rio Hotel wonderful.

Sept 22 Eagle Pass 26668 gas 3.60 12.9 gal 27.9 cents at San Marcus on route 81. gas 3.00 .29 10.9 at Mexia. Just drove. Looked at a cabin but it was terribly dirty so went on almost got in a colored place. Guess most of Mexia is colored. Mosquitoes bad.

Sept 23 27111 Stayed in car last ½ tank gas $5.00 gas Carihage Texas. Ill. 2463704 Old car driving about 90 gray Pontiac either 49-50 33.9 gal 2.85 8.4 gal. Hope Arkansas. Windshield cracked coming in Texas on way to Little Rock on route 67. Lost the cotton again going into Arkansas. Geo bought stones 3.50.

Gas at Mason Tenn. 9.8 gal 3.43 .34.3 cents. Got two ears corn here Outside Nashville $4.00 32.9 cents 12.9 gal. Geo drove like a maniac says he can tell how fast he's going since speedometer but I don't believe him 90 about his speed.

Nov 13 Fred came in at 9 this morning with Jimmie Clark. Seemed to be alright but wouldn't go to bed been on duty 15 hrs. At 1:30 he went to piers. Called Dr Drewlesky and he gave him some nerve tablets. Geo wasn't to be found till I called John & he found him at Y. He hadn't been there till then. Dolores took Bobby & Wayne home with her. Fred told Betty he was awful sick about one PM. Seemed to realize.

Nov 14 Fred much worse & couldn't find a nerve specialist to come here. Betty put in a bad night. Geo went & found a colored woman to help me to finish cleaning. What a mess. Had everything torn up. She doesn't clean like I do but I'm straightened. Gave her six dollars & the ham we bought in Virginia. She was pleased. Raining hard tonight. Fred getting worse all the time. Just can't rest.

Nov 15 George & John took Fred for a ride to his grandmothers he seemed some better while on the go. Geo was up all night with him & he let no one sleep. He wouldn't stay in bed only a few minute and then down stairs again. He doesn't know what he's doing & George is harsh with him.

Nov 16 Three Dr found Fred should take treatments at the state hospital. We are terribly broke up. What to do & how to do it a real problem. Gave him a shot at the doctors and he slept. They took him John and his father hope we never have to go thro this again. It breaks our hearts. Please God let him get well quickly and come back to us.

Nov 18 George and Betty went to see Fred and I took care of the baby. He's no better.

Nov 21 Dolores went to Dr's. Geo went to work after breaking the telephone wires and throwing it into the book case breaking the glass. Caller came and ask him why he couldn't have a telephone and Geo had excuses as usual. When I came down asked him if he was trying to fight a one man war against a corporation. Of course he blew up at me. I told him if he hadn't made Fred so much trouble over the phone he might not be where he was. That was when he tore it loose. He drank a cup of coffee said he wouldn't eat anything if I got it & left after pushing me as I slipped and fell. I went to door and told him He'd better go to Y and stay there till he felt better and if he needed clothes I'd pack them for him. I hadn't seen the mess in the front room then or I'd have really said somethings. Think he had all intentions of going to Y anyway as he said he didn't have to stand anything now from anyone & wouldn't. Funny I wasn't even angry. He always makes me to blame for anything that bothers him on the road.

Nov 22 Geo didn't come so he must have gone to Y. Betty, Steve and Dolores went with her. I took care of children. He's very bad.

Nov 23 No Geo and he isn't working. Dolores called me tonight. She went downtown shopping and is really sick. I stayed all night.

Nov 24 Steve Polovick 34. Dolores called Dr first thing this morning and she has pneumonia and went to hospital this afternoon. I'm staying up and taking care of the children so he can work. It never rains but it pours.

Nov 25 Douglas George Polovick 4. Betty and I went to see Fred. Steve is looking after the children. He isn't good at all. Geo came while we were gone and got his clothes both suits, railroad watch electric razor which Fred & I got him and he never used. Left some good shirts & worn underwear. Must really going to make a stay. At least he knows the telephone is there and the glass back in the book case door. It'll be a long time before I beg him to come home. He seems to think I must put up with anything he wants to do.

Nov 26 Not much of a day for us to be thankful but suppose we should that things aren't any worse for they might be. Dolores is much better at least and their children are over their colds. Went to Betty's for dinner.

Nov 29 Betty and the Naida went to see Fred. He was awful nervous but they thought better. Mick had a good visit with him & he didn't seem near as bad as when they first came. Thought Geo would have gotten tired of the Y before this but he must be enjoying being away from all the trouble. Never has called Dolores to see how she was altho John took pains to go tell him how sick she was.

Dec 3 Dolores wedding anniversary. Dolores came home Tues. and is very weak. I forgot it was her anniversary.
